Shane & Shane Tour

After a brief time on the road, LD Brian Jenkins recently wrapped up the Shane & Shane spring tour. Christian artists Aaron Shust opened up the concert each nite with the lovely Bethany Dillon following afterwards. Considering this was the first time for the Shanes to bring out movers, Jenkins felt a little pressure.

“After listening to the Shane’s cds and hearing them live a couple of times, I knew I was in for a real treat” Jenkins said. “They’re incredible musicians and their music is very dynamic and constantly evolving. I wanted to compliment that with some great looks, but I was given a heads-up early on that they were ‘iffy’ about this whole moving-light-flashing-through-the-audience-and-distracting-everyone-during-worship thing. After two shows, they were hooked!”

Initially, every bit of gear needed to be stowed away in the bus bays or in the trailer, so the lighting system was kept pretty compact. The guys had an interesting two weeks of keeping tires on the trailer, so a 24’ bobtail was called in to help alleviate some pressure. Jenkins worked alongside ILS President Steve Nance to design a rig that was the biggest bang-for-the-buck and flexible enough to fit in a variety of small sized venues. Flexibility in trim heights, stage depths, stage widths, power availability, and truck space were all determining factors in rig design. The rig a success the entire tour, providing big looks with a small footprint in a wide variety of setups.

Being that the Shane’s are Texas-based, Jenkins was able to get back to his roots.

“Oh man, I had a great time with those guys. They have got to be some of the most spontaneous and hilarious artists that I know” stated Jenkins. “They admit to being Rednecks! I felt right at home! Between driving the bus, repairing the trailer, and sometimes helping us load-in/out, they worked just as hard as the crew did. They allowed me to be creative and trusted my insight and opinion on different areas of production. As a team we had a great and successful tour!”
